Publication Ethics and Good Practices

REDSA promotes research integrity and applies recognized principles of editorial ethics. Allegations and disputes are examined confidentially, impartially, with documentation and an opportunity to respond.

Author responsibilities

  • Submit original work and cite sources correctly.
  • Avoid plagiarism, self-plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, manipulation, or duplicate publication.
  • Disclose authorship, contributions, funding, and conflicts of interest.
  • Obtain ethics approval and informed consent when applicable.
  • Protect personal data, identities, and participant rights.
  • Retain and provide evidence or data when legitimately requested.
  • Promptly report material errors found after submission or publication.

Reviewer responsibilities

  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Disclose conflicts of interest.
  • Provide objective, respectful, evidence-based, and timely reports.
  • Never appropriate unpublished ideas, data, or materials.

Editorial responsibilities

  • Ensure impartial decisions based on academic merit.
  • Protect confidentiality and manage conflicts.
  • Investigate suspected misconduct and preserve the scholarly record.
  • Publish corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions when appropriate.

Similarity screening

A similarity percentage is an analytical indicator, not an automatic decision. The editorial team examines the nature, extent, and attribution of matches. Plagiarism may lead to rejection, institutional notification, or retraction, depending on severity and evidence.

Allegations

Evidence-based and confidential concerns may be sent to editor@redsa.ec. Involved parties will have an opportunity to respond, and decisions will be documented.
