Ethics and Good Practices
REDSA adheres to the ethical standards established by:
• Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE)
• Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ)
• Helsinki Declaration
• APA Standards for Research Ethics
Responsibilities of Authors
• Ensure the originality of the work
• Properly cite all sources
• Declare conflicts of interest
• Obtain permissions for the use of protected material
• Include all authors who contributed
• Obtain informed consent (studies with humans)
• Have ethical approval (when applicable)
• Provide data if requested
Responsibilities of Reviewers
• Maintain confidentiality
• Declare conflicts of interest
• Conduct objective and constructive reviews
• Meet established deadlines
• Not use information from the manuscript for personal benefit
Responsibilities of the Editor
• Ensure a fair and impartial review process
• Maintain confidentiality
• Make decisions based on scientific quality
• Prevent and detect plagiarism
• Manage conflicts of interest
• Publish corrections and retractions when necessary
Plagiarism and Self-Plagiarism
REDSA uses anti-plagiarism software (Turnitin/iThenticate) to verify the originality of all manuscripts.
Acceptable limits:
• Total similarity: Maximum 10%
• Similarity per individual source: Maximum 3%
Consequences of plagiarism:
• Immediate rejection of the manuscript
• Notification to the author's institution
• Prohibition from publishing in REDSA for 2 years
• Retraction if already published
Conflicts of Interest:
Authors must declare any financial, personal, or professional relationships that may influence the work.
Examples:
• Funding from private companies
• Employment relationships with mentioned organizations
• Economic benefits derived from the results
Research with Human Beings
Studies with human participants must:
• Have approval from an ethics committee
• Obtain informed consent
• Protect the identity of participants
• Comply with the Helsinki Declaration
Research with Animals
Studies with animals must:
• Have approval from an ethics committee
• Comply with animal welfare regulations
• Justify the use of animals
• Minimize suffering
Reports of Misconduct
If you detect any scientific misconduct, you can report it confidentially to: editor@redsa.ec
All reports will be investigated following COPE protocols.
Access to Data
REDSA encourages authors to share their research data in public repositories when possible, respecting privacy and confidentiality.
